Celebrating with Pride 2023: Melissa McCarthy, Christine Quinn, Tinashe, and Niecy Nash-Betts Among the Stars Joining the Festivities

Rainbow flags were held high as notable allies like Melissa McCarthy and Christine Quinn, alongside prominent LGBTQ+ icons such as Tinashe and Niecy Nash-Betts, came together to commemorate the 2023 pride celebrations.

Kicking off the coverage of the West Hollywood Pride Parade on June 4, Lance Bass expressed the significance of the month for him. In a parade broadcast by KTLA, the singer, who has been married to Michael Turchin since 2014, shared, “There are many things I associate with pride. It’s a celebration of who we are, recognizing how far we’ve come, and honoring the trailblazers who paved the way for us to be here.”

Bass also emphasized the ongoing relevance of pride as a form of protest in the current climate. He stated, “However, it’s important to acknowledge that the temperature for the LGBTQIA community remains hostile. Pride is still a protest—it originated as one, and it continues to be. So, as you can see, there are numerous individuals standing up for what is right and advocating for their beliefs.”

The presence of these celebrated stars and their active participation in pride events further amplifies the significance of the LGBTQ+ community’s ongoing fight for equality and acceptance.

Straight Stars Show Support: Melissa McCarthy Honored as Ally Icon, Christine Quinn Shares Powerful Message

In a heartwarming display of solidarity, several straight stars demonstrated their support for the queer community during the 2023 pride celebrations. Melissa McCarthy, renowned for her acting prowess, was recognized as an “ally icon” at the WeHo event, further affirming her commitment to inclusivity.

Christine Quinn, former star of Netflix’s Selling Sunset, conveyed a poignant message ahead of her participation in the California parade. Taking to Twitter, she wrote, “A phoenix rising from ashes of hate, a vibrant rainbow after the storm of intolerance. Shedding our masks, unveiling our souls resplendent in their true colors.” Quinn celebrated the freedom to express oneself authentically and highlighted the significance of visibility and love in the face of historical silence. She added, “Today, we’re seen and celebrated. Today, our masks are off, our love is loud.”

Reality television personalities also made their presence felt at the June 4 event. Garcelle Beauvais and Sutton Stracke, stars of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and close friends, rode in a Sutton Concept convertible while holding matching rainbow fans, symbolizing their support for the LGBTQ+ community.

While the West Hollywood pride parade marked the first major star-studded celebration in the United States for 2023, the festivities are set to continue throughout the summer. New Orleans and Los Angeles have events planned for the second weekend of June, followed by Chicago and Portland during the third weekend. The pride celebrations in New York City and Nashville will culminate on the last Saturday and Sunday of the month, concluding a vibrant and inclusive month-long celebration of love, acceptance, and equality.
